Prototyping and Design Simulation

Over the years there have been many quotes about failing, not just related to product development;  “Fail fast. Fail often”, “fail faster, succeed sooner”, “Fail fast, fail forward”. At Malsen we see prototyping and simulation as tools to achieve this. Build it, test it, learn and move forward. “Failure is just a stepping stone to success”.

We believe in proving function early in any development cycle. Our workshop and labs are equipped with traditional tools from Lathes and Milling machines through to state-of-the-art 3D printers. Our labs are fully equipped to allow us to functional test prototypes or production components. Test equipment including weight, temperature, sound, humidity, pressure, vacuum, vibration and shock.

Working in parallel with prototyping, simulation proves vital in not only optimising the solution but defining success boundaries, safety factors. How near is the design to success, how close is it to failure. We use tools including Finite Element Analysis and computational Fluid Dynamics.
